The 81st Annual Academy Awards
First of all, congratulations to all the nominee that has been nominated even thou they didnt win. Secondly, congratulations to all the winners that have won The Oscars, and theres no third one.

The 81st Academy Awards ceremony was held by was held the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to honor its selection of the best films of 2008 on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California. it was the Biggest Movie Event of The Year and it is one big succesfull event. Congrats to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

in my view, this event is the best event of the all event, in movie industries or any event that we have over here like Juara Lagu, ABPBH, or any other event. this is the best from the best! why i said like that? are you nuts?off course this is the best because it is the biggest movie event of the year. i watch this Academy Awards at my home on StarMovie channel on the 23rd Feb 2009(if i not mistaken). it starts at 9.30am until 1.00pm. i said it was the best because i like the setup of the event it self, its beautiful. i wish i can go to that theatre in the next 5 or 10 years.

it has five big screens that can move up and down, left to right and its gorgeous! hope there is one in my country, i dunno how to said it, but you need to look it self, here is some torrent links that i got : http://www.mininova.org/tor/2315387, http://www.mininova.org/tor/2315391. that will be part 1 and part 2, try to look at it ur self. but be smart, its a torrent, so you need to download it and know what is torrent link actually.

im sorry, i forgoten what is the thing that i want to share. The Best Picture of Year 2008 won by a movie call Slumdog Millionaire. it was just release on the 12 November 2008 (US limited). but there is no limitation for the computer freak in that country(US), they got the DVD, they upload it on the torrent link so that the whole world can get a copy of the story, i got one and ive watch it. it is a beautiful story, a story about a kid, an indian kid that answer the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire question by himself using his own experiance, and it is a story about hope. the story include the indian people as the charachter, the american people as the director and the crew, and chinese people for some of they music(drums etc.). it is hard to find 3 types of different culture, doing one work and manage to grab the Best Picture of The Year 2008, and the story is release at the end of the 2008 year. how lucky is that huh?

in the first place, the story seriously look bored and so and so. but with the music and the story line, you will find that the story is not as boring as you thought. credits to A R Rahman(he won the best music) for the beautiful indian music. you need to watch it by your self. its a nice story to be watch.

i agree we need to change now days, but the question is from what to what? the world is changing it self, from peace to war. from RM2.** per litre for petrol to RM1.8 per litre. and off course everybody is going to change, from young to old. from old to older. for me, i need to change from better to the beSt!

Credit to Mlmh Rohida. she said thoose words on her speech at the celebration of sumtin on friday when i was still in the school age. well its actually not a speech but she was reading some kinda poem or sumtin. the poem title was 'mirror'. she said that 'people around us are like a mirror, they reflects back our image, they tell us how our attitude are and so and so..' it is a nice poem by the way.

freely!with cheers and no tears..
nicely, with the style of flying..
(im talking bout burung layang², they use to fly like a F-14 or sumtin)
happily,with friends and family..

but once the heart is broken (the wings of the bird),

"Sock and Awe" -- named after the military doctrine employed in the US operation to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq -- allows players to throw shoes at a figure of President Bush, as he ducks behind a podium.

Al-Zaidi missed both his attempts before being dragged off by Iraqi security forces, but players of "Sock and Awe" have a little more leeway -- you can keep slinging footwear for up to thirty seconds.

KABUL, Afghanistan – President George W. Bush wrapped up a whirlwind trip to two war zones Monday that in many ways was a victory lap without a clear victory. A signature event occurred when an Iraqi reporter hurled two shoes at Bush, declaring: "This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq."

The president visited the Iraqi capital just 37 days before he hands the war off to his successor, Barack Obama, who has pledged to end it. The president wanted to highlight a drop in violence and to celebrate a recent U.S.-Iraq security agreement, which calls for U.S. troops to withdraw from Iraq by the end of 2011.

"The war is not over," Bush said, but "it is decisively on its way to being won."

Bush then traveled to Afghanistan where he spoke to U.S. soldiers and Marines at a hangar on the tarmac at Bagram Air Base. The rally for over a thousand military personnel took place in the dark, cold pre-dawn hours. Bush was greeted by loud cheers from the troops.

"Afghanistan is a dramatically different country than it was eight years ago," he said. "We are making hopeful gains."

But the president's message on progress in the region was having trouble competing with the videotaped image of the angry Iraqi who hurled his shoes at Bush in a near-miss, shouting in Arabic, "This is your farewell kiss, you dog!" Reaction in Iraq was swift but mixed, with some condemning the act and others applauding it. Television news stations throughout Iraq repeatedly showed footage of the incident, and newspapers carried headline stories.

In Baghdad's Shiite slum of Sadr City, supporters of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr called for protests against President Bush and demanded the release of the reporter, who was jailed after throwing his shoes. Thousands took to the streets Monday, chanting, "Bush, Bush, listen well: Two shoes on your head."

Possibly Australia's best birding site, Lord Howe Island is a carefully preserved nature sanctuary, where only 400 tourists are allowed at a time. Seventy-five percent of the island, including much of the southern mountains and northern hills, is a permanent protected nature reserve. The island is home to more than 130 bird species, between residents and migratory visitors. Walking trails along the island's ragged east coast provide great views of seabirds, star among them is one of the world's rarest birds, the Providence petrel, which nests near the summit of Mount Gower. This sturdy-looking seabird is so trustful of humans that it can even be called out of the air — and might even decide to rest in your lap.

For impressive aerial feats, look to the skies, especially over the tropical forests of the northern hills, and you'll see the beautiful red-tailed tropic bird, with its elegant red tail streamers. When courting, it will fly backwards, in circles, and, for good measure, throw in some vertical displays. It's a splendid sight, and one few birders ever get to see.

Though camel rides and horseback tours are now banned from the monument area, visitors still clamber unchecked over the ancient landmarks. The haphazard sprawl and pollution of Cairo comes right to the edge of the archaeological zone, yet Egyptian officials seem unconcerned about protecting the site.

It's difficult now to get that iconic long-distance view of the three pyramids looming in the desert; you can't really see them until you're too close. Oriented precisely to the points of the compass, they were built for three Pharaohs of the 4th Dynasty (about 27th c. B.C.) — the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the slightly smaller Second Pyramid of Chephren, and the much smaller red-granite Third Pyramid of Mycerinus — and designed to imitate the rays of the sun shining down from its zenith. Most tourists expect a visit to the famed pyramids to be a once-in-a-lifetime thrill, not a tawdry letdown. It's the only Ancient Wonder we have left — what a pity it's come to this.

This vast complex is half a millennium old — the emperors lived in the Forbidden City from 1420 to 1923, beginning long before Columbus sailed to the Americas and ending right before Lindbergh flew across the Atlantic — and the heavy traffic is taking its toll.

It may have been forbidden once, but nowadays nearly seven million visitors a year cross the threshold of this imperial palace, home to an unbroken line of 24 Chinese emperors. Limiting access would be a ticklish proposition for the Chinese government since most of the visitors are Chinese citizens getting in touch with their heritage. Many sections may be closed when you visit, due to a massive renovation lasting through 2020.

There's no one must-see section — it's the scale and harmony of the whole that's so impressive, an irrefutable statement of Chinese imperial might. It was originally built by an army of workers in only 14 years, although after various ransackings and fires, most of what you see today was built in the 17th century. Check out the largest gate, the Gate of Heavenly Peace, where Mao Tse Tung made his dramatic announcement founding the People's Republic in October 1949. The nearby Gate of Supreme Harmony leads into the perfectly symmetrical outer court, and then into an inner court and increasingly private — at least in the emperor's time — pavilions and structures.

Little Green Street isn't in the center of London, but maybe that's why it survived so long — it's one of only a few intact Georgian streets left in the whole metropolis. These two-story brick houses may have survived the Blitz in World War II, but the inexorable march of gentrification is another thing altogether. It's not even a full neighborhood, just a one-block-long street, a narrow cobblestoned lane lined on both sides with perhaps a dozen modest 18th-century terraced houses.

The houses themselves being knocked down, it's the street itself that lies in danger. A developer seeking to build nearby can only access the plot of land through the 2.5m (8 feet) wide street. Lorries and backhoes would barely scrape through this lane, coming within inches of the terrace's neatly painted front doors and bow windows. No studies had been done to test how much the constant rumbling and vibrations of that traffic would affect the foundations of these 225-year-old buildings, given a projected construction period of 4 years.

Little Green Street looks like a perfect slice of Regency London; it's been celebrated in the poetry of that quintessentially British poet John Betjeman, and used as the setting for music videos and photo shoots. The campaign to save Little Green Street has not only knit together the dozen families who live there, it has attracted actors, writers, musicians, and others concerned with preserving London's historic character. On February 28, 2008, the Camden Town Council denied the developers construction access to Little Green Street, but the appeals process continues.

It's worth avoiding the following plastics when you can. You can identify a plastic by looking at the recycling code number that appears inside a triangle at the bottom of many containers.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) can leach phthalates, known male reproductive toxicants. It can be identified by code 3. One way to avoid it in the kitchen is by choosing plastic wrap made from polyethylene rather than PVC. If a box is not labeled, find a brand that is or call the manufacturer.

Polystyrene is used in Styrofoam products. It may leach styrene (a neurotoxin) when it

comes into contact with hot, acidic, or fatty foods. It's marked with recycling code 6.

Polycarbonate can leach bisphenol-A (BPA), an endocrine disruptor associated with a long list of health concerns. Baby bottles, "sippy" cups, 5-gallon water jugs, and reusable beverage bottles are typically made out of this plastic. Products may be marked with recycling code 7 and/or the letters "PC." Halloween!

Halloween (or Hallowe’en) is a mostly national holiday celebrated on the evening of October 31; today it is often celebrated in the morning and afternoon as well. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o'-lanterns, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies. Trick-or-treating
Trick-or-treating, is a custom for children on Halloween in which they proceed from house to house in costumes, asking for treats such as confectionery or sometimes money with the question, "Trick or treat?" The "trick" part of "trick or treat" is an idle threat to play a trick on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given. Trick-or-treating is one of the main traditions of Halloween. It has become socially expected that if one lives in a neighborhood with children one should purchase treats in preparation for trick-or-treaters. The National Confectioners Association reported in 2005 that 80 percent of adults in the United States planned to give out confectionery to trick-or-treaters, and that 93 percent of children planned to go trick-or-treating.

Khalifah- khalifah awal Islam bersama dengan dakwah Islam pada usia yang muda - Abu bakar ra masuk Islam pada usia 32 tahun, Umar ra 35 tahun, Ali ra 9 tahun, Uthman ra 30 tahun.

Kita beriman dengan aqidah bahawa Islam adalah deen penyelamat kepada umat manusia. Islam pasti akan kembali memimpin umat manusia. Siapakah yang akan membawa panji Islam ini? =The Road To Guantanamo (2006)=

Part drama, part documentary, The Road to Guantánamo focuses on the Tipton Three, a trio of British Muslims who were held in Guantanamo Bay for two years until they were released without charge.

In 2001, four Pakistani Britons, Ruhal Ahmed, Asif Iqbal and Shafiq Rasul and another friend, Monir, travel to Pakistan for a wedding and in a urge of idealism, decide to see the situation of war torn Afganistan which is being bombed by the American forces in retaliation for the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Once there, with the loss of Monir in the wartime chaos, they are captured by Northern Alliance fighters. They are then handed them over the American forces who transport them to the prison camps at the Guantanamo Bay base in Cuba. What follows is three years of relentless imprisonment, interrogations and torture to make them submit to blatantly wrong confessions to being terrorists. In the midst of this abuse, the three struggle to keep their spirits up in that face of this grave injustice.

Two of the actors (Riz Ahmed and Farhad Harun) and two of the ex-detainees were detained temporary and interrogated at the airport by the British police when they returned from the Berlinale-festival where the movie got the Silver Bear. According to BBC-news Ahmed said he was asked if he intended to make any more political films.

The Tipton Three were there Britons of south Asian origin, mixed up in petty crime. Sufficiently Paskistani in identity to visit that country and feel reasonably at home, they were also sufficiently British to imagine it would be a good idea to extend their trip to Afghanistan, just to see what they would find. What they did find, of course, was war, the of death a friend, and then, just when they might have thought they were safe, torture and imprisonment at the hands of the Americans, first in Afghanistan and then in Guantanamo Bay.

Michael Winterbottom's film is shot in many of the original locations, reconstructing their story: the reconstruction is accompanied by interviews with the men (in which they describe what happened, with little embellishment) and clippings from news stories at the time (a minority of which display what in retrospect seems outrageous bias in favour of the agreed western spin on the war). There's an element of black comedy in the way a group of uppity British lads somehow find themselves at war; but when the torture begins, it's hard not to get angry at the systematic disregard for the human rights of men who had been convicted of no crime. Also hard to escape is the sheer bone-headedness of their interrogators: convinced that their suspects work for "Al-Quaeda", which they seem to conceive of as some kind of unitary and institutional organisation, the Americans have no effective idea of what to do except to put this proposition to their suspects ad nauseam until they agree, with intermittent torture to ram home the point. That a confession in these circumstances would have means precisely nothing does not seem to have occurred to them. In fact, the men didn't break, which was presumably easier because they had no idea of the sort of information the Americans wanted from them. But (except at the very end), there were heroic acts of defiance in the fashion of the Hollywood prison movie either; against overwhelming force, such behaviour isn't really on.

I would have liked to see the suspects called to explain themselves a little further when they say they went to Afghansistan to "help", but overall, their stories make a grim kind of sense, and they lost three years of their lives for a foolish expedition. Now they are Muslims in a way they never were before, having gained strength through their religion in their darkest hour. This is an important and absorbing film, which as with the same director's 'In This World', reminds you of how large the world is. And also makes you want to scream: "Not in My Name!".

Hari Raya Aidilfitri (also Hari Raya Puasa, literally "Celebration Day of Fasting") is the Malay term for the Muslim festival of Eid ul-Fitr. Hari Raya is also known as Lebaran. Muslims in Brunei, Indonesia,Malaysia and Singapore celebrate Eid like other Muslims throughout the world. The term "Hari Raya" literally means "Day of Celebration" — it is also occasionally used to refer to Eid ul-Adha in the form of "Hari Raya Aidiladha". The main greeting used by Muslims in Malaysia and Singapore is "Selamat Hari Raya" which means "Happy Eid" in Malay. Another greeting is "maaf zahir dan batin" which translates loosely to "I seek forgiveness (from you) physically and spiritually", for Hari Raya is a time to reconcile and renew relationships with others.

Fasting
During the Muslim month of Ramadan leading up to Hari Raya, it is mandatory for Muslims to fast from dawn to dusk. All Muslims except the young, old or infirm must fast. Many Muslims also abstain from pleasures such as cigarettes and sexual activities during the daylight of the fasting month.

Widely, markets, or 'Ramadan bazaars' are held in many areas around the country, where all sorts of food and kuih — traditional Malay delicacies — are sold for breaking fast or buka puasa. Hotels and restaurants have also exploited this situation to offer exorbitant Ramadan buffet. This practice of overindulging has been criticised by Muslim clerics, notably the mufti of the state of Kelantan.

Preparation
On the eve of Hari Raya, Muslims will recite the takbir, which is held in mosques and surau (smaller place of worship). In some communities, there will be congregations reciting the takbir from house to house.

In big cities and towns, shopping malls and commercial centres will hold big promotions and price discounts for festive shoppers as people purchase clothes and supplies. Decorations are hung in public areas and Hari Raya songs will be played in shopping complexes. The media, such as the television will host various programs in conjunction with the celebrations.

Many people also traditionally return to their hometown generally from big metropolitan cities to rural areas. This is known as balik kampung — literally going back to one's home town to celebrate Hari Raya with family and friends. At many times, the flux of vehicles on the roads nationwide increased the number of car accidents, including deadly ones, occurring during the festive season. Road safety campaigns are often launched by the authorities ahead of the festivities in the effort of lowering the discomforting number of accidents.

Celebrating
Usually on the eve of the celebrations, family members, especially mothers and housewives, will be busy preparing food, cakes, sweets, biscuits and various delicacies to be served on the day of Hari Raya. Delicacies such as ketupat or rice cake and a meat cuisine called rendang are among the most famous cuisines that are served during this day. Other family members will help in other chores such as decorating and cleaning up the house.

Days before Hari Raya, house compounds, particularly those in the countryside will be lit up with oil lamps known as pelita or panjut. This display of oil lamps will reach its height on the 27th night of Ramadan, called the Tujuh Likur night. 'Likur' literally meaning a figure between 20 and 30, hence 'tujuh likur' means twenty seven. Originally during the early days of the arrival of Islam among the Malays, the purpose of lighting the oil lamps was to attract spirit of passed relatives and angels to descend to people's homes during the night of Lailatulqadar. However after ages has passed, such misconception is regarded counterfactual as much understanding of Islam were obtained. Nowadays the oil lamps are lit solely for decorative purposes.

It is customary for Malays to wear traditional Malay costumes. The dress for men is called baju Melayu while the women's are known as baju kurung and baju kebaya. Traditional textiles such as songket and batik are worn favourably during this day.

Muslims will attend Eid prayer in the morning and consecrate together harmoniously while taking the chance to meet and greet each other. Once the prayer is done, it is also common for Muslims in Malaysia to visit the grave of their loved ones. During this visit, they will clean the grave, perform the recital of the Yasin — a chapter (surah) from the Qur'an and also the tahlil or prayers for the deceased. All these are done in hope that their loved ones are blessed by God and they are spared from the punishment in the grave.

The rest of the day is spent visiting relatives or serving visitors. Hari Raya is a very joyous day for children for this is the day where adults are extra generous. Children will be given token sums of money, also known as duit raya from their parents and elders.

During the night, there are often celebrations with sparklers and firecrackers, albeit restrictions on playing firecrackers enforced by the authorities. Most firecracker stocks are purchased and smuggled illegally from black markets. Safety issues, especially among children are raised and alarming cases relating to injuries caused by playing firecrackers are often reported, which initially led to the banning of playing firecrackers. Despite of the enforcement of banning firecrackers, more Malay children turn to home-made firecrackers such as meriam buluh (bamboo cannon) as alternatives to commercial fireworks. Usually the lighting of firecrackers begins a few days before the end of Ramadan, and continues for about a week afterwards.

LONDON – Millvina Dean was only 2 months old when she was wrapped in a sack and lowered into a lifeboat from the doomed Titanic. Now 96, the last survivor of the tragic sinking is selling mementos of the disaster to help pay her nursing home fees.

Rescued from the bitterly cold Atlantic on that April 1912 night, Dean, her 2-year-old brother and her mother were taken to New York with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Before returning home to England, they were given a small wicker suitcase of donated clothing, a gift from New Yorkers to help them rebuild their lives.

Now, Dean is selling the suitcase and other Titanic mementos to help pay her nursing home fees. They are expected to go for $5,200 at an auction of Titanic memorabilia Saturday in Devizes in western England.

Among the items are rare prints of the Titanic and letters from the Titanic Relief Fund offering her mother one pound, seven shillings and sixpence a week in compensation.

But the key item in the sale is the suitcase, said auctioneer Andrew Aldridge. "They would have carried their little world in this suitcase," he said Thursday.

Dean has lived at Woodlands Ridge, a private nursing home in the southern city of Southampton — Titanic's home port — since she broke her hip two years ago.

"I am not able to live in my home anymore," Dean was quoted as telling the Southern Daily Echo newspaper. "I am selling it all now because I have to pay these nursing home fees and am selling anything that I think might fetch some money."

A spokeswoman for Woodlands Ridge said Dean was too tired Thursday to speak to The Associated Press.

She said rooms at the nursing home cost between $1,000 and $1,550 a week, depending on the level of care the resident needs, but declined to discuss Dean's situation, saying it was a private matter.

Although Britain has a free health care system, private providers offer more comprehensive services for a fee. In the case of nursing homes, state-run facilities are available and cost much less than private ones. But they are more spartan and offer fewer amenities, such as shared rooms and no private TVs.

Local authorities often pay a portion of the costs of private nursing home care based on an individual's assets; anyone with more than $39,000 in assets has to pay their own fees.

In 1912, baby Elizabeth Gladys "Millvina" Dean and her family were steerage passengers emigrating to Kansas City, Mo., aboard the Titanic.

Four days out of port, on the night of April 14, 1912, it hit an iceberg and sank. Billed as "practically unsinkable" by the publicity magazines of the period, the Titanic did not have enough lifeboats for all 2,200 passengers and crew.

Dean, her mother Georgetta and brother Bertram Jr. were among 706 people — mostly women and children — who were rescued by the steamship Carpathia and survived. Her father, Bertram Dean, was among more than 1,500 who died.

Dean did not know she had been aboard the Titanic until she was 8 years old, when her mother, who was about to remarry, told her about her father's death.

She has no memories of the sinking and said she preferred it that way.

"I wouldn't want to remember, really," she told The Associated Press in a 1997 interview.

Dean said she had seen the 1958 film, "A Night to Remember," with other survivors, but found it so upsetting that she declined to watch any other movies about the disaster, including the 1997 blockbuster "Titanic," starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet.

Dean began to take part in Titanic-related activities in the 1980s, and was active well into her 90s. She visited Belfast, Northern Ireland, to see where the ship was built, attended Titanic conventions around the world — where she was mobbed by autograph-seekers — and participated in radio and television documentaries about the sinking.

The last American survivor of the disaster, Lillian Asplund, died in 2006 at the age of 99. Another British survivor, Barbara Joyce West Dainton, died last November at 96.

Aldridge said the "massive interest" in Titanic memorabilia shows no signs of abating. Last year, a collection of items belonging to Asplund sold for more than $175,000.

"It's the people, the human angle," Aldridge said. "You had over 2,200 men, women and children on that ship, from John Jacob Astor, the richest person in the world at the time, to a poor Scandinavian family emigrating to the States to start a new life. There were 2,200 stories."

1.42 Tengahari: Rombongan DSAI, disertai ribuan anak muda berada di Pusat Pengundian Guar Perahu, Permatang Pasir. Dilaporkan pengundi hantu sudah mula berkeliaran, nantikan update.

Dalam kejadian jam 11 pagi itu, Najib baru sahaja memasuki kereta selepas berjumpa dengan para penyokong Barisan Nasional (BN).

Sebaik sahaja berliau memasuki kereta, satu botol air dibaling kearah keretanya yang dipercayai dilakukan oleh penyokong pembangkang.Keadaan ini meyebabkan tindakan balas penyokong BN yang turut membaling beberapa botol air ke arah beberapa penyokong Pakatan Rakyat.Pada masa sama, penyokong Pakatan Rakyat itu cuba menyerbu kereta Najib tetapi dihalang pihak polis.

1.29 Tengahari: Sekatan jalanraya telah berjaya dilakukan oleh pihak polis. Kesesakan dilaporkan dari Rawang menuju ke Utara. Jalan ditutup menjadikannya kepada satu lorong sehingga ke Permatang Pauh. Cubaan untuk melengahkan pengundi yang bekerja di luar nampaknya sedang diusahakan secara konsisten oleh semua jentera kerajaan.

1.14 Tengahari:Dilaporkan sekarang Helikopter masih melilau-lilau di udara dan terbang agak rendah. Bunyi deruman enjin dan kipasnya sedikit mengganggu penduduk tempatan. Walaubagaimanapun kebanyakan dari mereka hanya bersorak setiap kali Helikopter melintasi kawasan mereka.

1:03 Tengahari : DSAI sekarang di Sekolah Kebangsaan Permatang Pauh. Penyokong-penyokong Pakatan Rakyat menyambut beliau dengan penuh meriah. Kelihatan kanak-kanak berlari-lari sambil memakai topeng Anwar. Kaum India juga kelihatan bersemangat melaungkan “Makkal Sakthi” takkala DSAI melintasi kumpulan mereka. Cuaca sekarang mendung dengan hujan mulai turun membasahi bumi Permatang Pauh.

12:44 Tengahari: DSAI berhenti di pusat mengundi Sekolah Menegah Sama Gaga. Ribuan rakyat menyertai konvoi beliau sekarang. Bendera PKR berkibaran. Kelihatan penyokong ameno dan BN tersentak dengan kehadiran beliau.

11.23 Pagi: DSAI meniggalkan Pusat Pengundian Tenggiri, Jalan bertambah sesak dengan kedatangan para pengundi dan penyokong tidak putus-putus, Bendera berkibaran, laungan reformasi terus bergema, Tenggiri Bergegarrr…..!!!!

11.08 Pagi: DSAI tiba di Pusat Pengundian di Tenggiri Seberang Jaya, Sehingga ke Pintu Pagar para penyokong melaungkan Reformasi, suasana adalah cukup positif sekali.

10.52 pagi Calon Akim, Hanafi Mamat, beliau dalam perjalanan untuk melawat pusat pengundian di Kubang Semang.

Beliau menaruh harapan dan menegaskan, jika kalahpun “mesej kita sudah sampai kepada pengundi dan mereka boleh menilai”.

10.42 pagi: Ketua Penerangan PKR, Tian Chua sedang berunding dengan pihak polis untuk memberi lebih masa kepada penyokong parti politik beredar.

10.42 pagi: Ketua Polis Pulau Pinang Datuk Ayub Yaakob tiba di tempat kejadian. Selepas berbincang dengan para pegawainya, polis mengarahkan penyokong kedua belah pihak supaya beredar.

Terdapat kira-kira 1,000 penyokong parti politik di situ, yang terdiri daripada kira-kira 400 penyokong BN dan 600 penyokong Pakatan.

10.30 pagi: seorang penyokong Pakatan ditahan di SK Sri Penanti kerana didakwa melontar objek ke arah penyokong BN.

10.10 pagi: Anwar berkata beliau berharap dapat angkat sumpah di Parlimen esok dan “kita akan masuk Parlimen dengan agenda yang jelas dan mereka (BN) patut bangun dengan menerima realitinya”.

Dalam ucapan ringkasnya selepas membuang undi, Anwar berkata, beliau menerima sokongan kuat penduduk Permatang Pauh.

10.05 pagi: Timbalan Pengarah Pilihanraya PKR, Fauziah Salleh berkata pihaknya sedang menyemak perbezaan muka surat dalam daftar pengundi yang diberi pada PKR dan yang digunakan di saluran dua, SK Seberang Jaya 2.

Katanya, muka surat 8 hingga 21 dalam daftar yang diberikan kepada PKR adalah untuk pengundi saluran dua, tetapi mengikut daftar pemilih yang digunakan oleh SPR pagi ini, bagi pengundi saluran dua adalah muka surat 1 hingga 14.

10.00 pagi: Anwar dan Dr Wan Azizah beredar dari SK Seri Penanti selepas kedua-dua mengundi di SK Sri Penanti. Ketika ditemui pemberita, Anwar berkata, ia bukan Anwar lawan calon BN, tetapi melawan seluruh jentera kerajaan. Bagaimanapun, Anwar yakin menang.

9.38 pagi: Anwar tiba di SK Sri Penanti untuk membuang undi. Beliau yang berbaju kameja biru dan bersongkok, bersama isterinya, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

9.31 pagi: Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak dan pemangku Presiden Gerakan, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon bertembung Setiausaha Agung DAP, Lim Guan Eng dan Lim Kit Siang di pusat pengundian di SK Seberang Jaya 2.

9.30 pagi. Menurut sumber yang layak dipercayai, 9 daripada 10 pengundi di SK Sri Penanti difahamkan memilih Anwar.

9.10 pagi PKR menghantar ‘alert’ menyatakan senarai daftar pengundi yang digunakan di SMK Seberang Jaya 2, dalam DUN Seberang Jaya 2, berbeza dengan senarai yang diberi oleh Suruhanjaya Pilihanraya (SPR) sebelum ini. Bagaimanapun, difahamkan berlaku perbezaan muka surat dalam daftar pemilih yang digunakan oleh pihak parti dan SPR di pusat pengundian tersebut.

9.05 pagi: Jumlah penyokong Pakatan di SK Sri Penanti, semakin bertambah mencecah kira-kira 700 orang. Manakala penyokong BN pula dianggarkan seramai 300 orang.

8.45 pagi: Kira-kira 30 sedang berbaris untuk mengundi di SK Sri Penanti. Manakala jumlah penyokong BN bertambah kepada kira-kira 250 orang manakala penyokong Pakatan pula meningkatkan kepada kira-kira 300 orang.

Penyokong BN kedengaran melaung liwat, penyokong Pakatan ada kata Altantuya, Ada juga penyokong Pakatan tunjuk wang kertas RM50 ke arah penyokong BN. Ada penyokong Pakatan Tanya BN ‘Tak nyanyi lagu ke’. Penyokong BN jawab ‘liwat’. Bila kenderaan lalu,

8.30 pagi: Terdapat kira-kira 200 penyokong BN dan 200 penyokong Pakatan berada di SK Sri Penanti menunggu ketibaan Anwar. Kedua belah pihak dipisahkan oleh jalanraya dan berada kira-kira 20 meter dari situ. Penyokong PKR melaungkan ‘Reformasi’ manakala di pihak BN, mereka menyanyikan lagi ‘Barisan Kita”. Kelihatan kira-kira 50 anggota polis bertugas mengawal keadaan di situ.

Pengundi dijangka keluar awal untuk mengundi ekoran Jabatan Meteorologi meramalkan hujan dan ribut petir akan berlaku di sebelah petang.

8.15 pagi: Keadaan lalu lintas di sekitar Permatang Pauh terkawal dan kenderaan yang membawa lambang BN dan PKR mundar-mandir mengangkut pengundi.

Seramai 6,000 anggota polis ditugaskan mengawal keadaan keselamatan di Permatang Pauh untuk memastikan proses pengundian berjalan lancar.

8.08 pagi: Calon BN, Datuk Arif Shah merupakan antara orang pertama membuang undi sebaik sahaja pusat pengundian di buka di SK Seberang Jaya 2. Anwar dijadual mengundi jam 9 pagi.

Ketika ditemui pemberita, Arif Shah menyifatkan angka 8 adalah nombor bertuah baginya. Isteri beliau, Datin Latifah Asmawi dan anak sulung mereka, Izwan Shah, turut mengundi di tempat yang sama.

Terdapat kira-kira penyokong kedua belah pihak membawa bendera parti masing-masing Penyokong Pakatan juga kelihatan memakain topeng Anwar dan bersorak antara satu lain.

8 pagi: Sejumlah 110 saluran di 25 pusat mengundi, dibuka kepada 58,459 pengundi membuang undi dalam pilihanraya kecil Parlimen Permatang Pauh. Tujuh daripada 25 pusat mengundi itu terletak di sekolah menengah kebangsaan manakala bakinya terletak di sekolah kebangsaan dan jenis kebangsaan serta dewan orang ramai.

Pilihanraya kecil ini menyaksikan pertandingan tiga penjuru antara calon BN, Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah 51; calon PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, 61, dan Hanafi Hamat, 61, dari Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia (Akim).

Ia diadakan berikutan peletakan jawatan anggota parlimennya, Presiden PKR Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail pada 31 Julai lepas bagi memberi laluan kepada suaminya, Anwar bertanding di kawasan itu.

Dalam pilihanraya umum Mac lalu, Dr Wan Azizah menewaskan calon BN, Datuk Pirdaus Ismail dengan majoriti 13,398 undi. Parlimen Permatang Pauh dikuasai PKR sejak pilihanraya umum 1999 dan sebelum itu dimenangi Anwar atas tiket BN sejak 1982.
Anwar mengundi Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sri Penanti manakala Arif Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seberang Jaya 2.

For the first time jade is used for the Beijing Olympic medals. The medals have been designed with inspiration coming from "bi", China's ancient jade piece inscribed with a dragon pattern. The medals symbolise nobility and virtue and are the embodiment of traditional Chinese values of ethics and honour, emitting a strong Chinese flavour. The winners’ medal is made of gold weighing not less than six grammes each. The medal for the runner-up is made of pure silver.

Noble and elegant, the medals are a blending of traditional Chinese culture and Olympism. On their obverse side, the medals reflect the Greek character of the Olympic Games: the goddess of victory Nike pictured in the Panathinaikos Stadium. While on their reverse side, the medals are inlaid with jade with the Beijing Games emblem engraved in the metal centrepiece. The design inspiration of the medal hook derives from jade "huang", a ceremonial jade piece decorated with a double dragon pattern and "Pu", the reed mat pattern.

The design of the aluminum Torch takes into account Chinese artistic heritage and technological expertise. The torch features traditional scrolls and a traditional Chinese design called "Lucky Cloud". It stands 72 centimeters high and weighs 985 grams.

TANGGAL 21 Ogos merupakan tarikh yang amat penting dalam lipatan sejarah umat Islam. Apa tidaknya, Pertubuhan Persidangan Islam atau lebih dikenali dengan OIC lahir kerana insiden 21 Ogos. Apakah yang berlaku sehingga persidangan ini tercetus?

Pada 21 Ogos 1969, seorang lelaki berbangsa Australia bernama Dennis Michael Rohan telah membakar Masjid Al-Aqsa. Api menyala besar dan membakar tembok serta mimbarnya yang besar (mimbar Solahuddin).

Api marak dengan dahsyat sekali seolah-olah seluruh Masjid Al-Aqsa akan musnah ketika itu. Sehinggakan pihak bomba juga tidak hadir menghulur bantuan. Tetapi Allah s.w.t telah menyelamatkan Masjid Al-Aqsa dan melindunginya. Akhirnya api dapat dipadamkan.

Setelah itu orang-orang Yahudi membuat pengadilan pura-pura terhadap Rohan. Lucunya, Rohan mendakwa bahawa dia diutuskan oleh Allah untuk melakukan pembakaran itu, bersesuaian dengan berita dari Kitab Zakaria.

Apa yang menyedihkan kemudiannya ialah Yahudi membebaskannya dengan mengatakan Rohan 'gila', dengan kata lain, tidak waras.

Maka, atas sebab itu, Rohan tidak da- pat dipertanggungjawabkan atas kejadian tersebut. Bertitik-tolak insiden menghinakan itu, negara-negara Islam di seluruh dunia bangkit mempertahankan tempat suci mereka dan mengecam perbuatan keji terhadap Al-Aqsa.

Maka sejak itu, 21 Ogos tanpa gagal diangkat sebagai Hari Al-Quds sedunia. Ia disambut sebagai tanda memperingati tragedi pembakaran masjid Al-Aqsa.

Tragedi tersebut merupakan catatan sejarah yang paling menyedihkan dalam sejarah umat Islam. Masjid Al-Aqsa yang begitu suci itu dihina sedemikian rupa.

Tidak menghairankan apabila semua umat Islam seluruh dunia 'terbakar' hati dan perasaan mereka kerana tindakan Rohan, 38 tahun lalu. Begitulah nasib Tanah suci umat Islam yang ketiga setelah dihuni oleh rejim Zionis.

Perlu diingatkan, isu Masjid Al-Aqsa ini ada hubung kait dengan hal-hal Palestin.

Maka selayaknya, isu Palestin ini merupakan isu yang dipertanggungjawabkan bagi sekalian umat Islam. Satunya kerana, kedudukan Masjid al-Aqsa sebagai Tanah Suci ketiga dalam Islam. Selebihnya ia merupakan kiblat pertama umat Islam selain menjadi bumi didiami para Nabi serta pusat pemerintahan dunia Islam seperti yang dirakamkan dalam hadis Rasulullah.

Bagi masyarakat bukan Islam, isu Palestin menggambarkan ketidakadilan dan kezaliman rejim terhadap bangsa Palestin yang perlu sama-sama dibela dan diperjuangkan.

Hari ini Palestin berada dalam tangan rejim Zionis yang telah merampasnya daripada tangan umat Islam.

PembelaanAkibatnya, umat Palestin telah dihalau keluar, dizalimi, ditindas, dikambinghitamkan, dipenjarakan dan dibunuh. Nasib yang melanda umat Islam Palestin memerlukan pembelaan dari seluruh umat Islam.

Sebagai usaha pembelaan dan kepedulian, maka Hari Memperingati Al-Quds atau Remembrance of Al-Quds (ROQ) merupakan sebuah gagasan yang menjadi simbol solidariti umat Islam di Malaysia terhadap umat Palestin.

Pelbagai kegiatan boleh dijalankan untuk menghebahkan tentang isu Palestin dan kedudukan Palestin dalam hati umat Islam serta soal penindasan di Masjid Al-Aqsa. Kita berharap program ini akan menggerakkan masyarakat su- paya sedar lalu terpanggil untuk menghulurkan sumbangan dan mempersiapkan diri mereka dengan segala pertahanan dan kecemerlangan sebagai umat yang terbaik.

Episod duka Palestin ini, ditambah dengan penindasan dan kezaliman yang tidak henti hingga ke saat ini hakikatnya menuntut sokongan dan bantuan semua, seluruh lapisan masyarakat dunia.

Malah, 21 Ogos hadir setiap tahun mengingatkan kita bahawa sekiranya kita tidak mempertahankan tanah suci Palestin dan Masjid Al-Aqsa, kelak, kita bukan sahaja tidak dapat mempertahankannya daripada sekadar dibakar, malah keseluruhannya cenderung untuk dirampas secara haram oleh rejim Zionis.

Justeru, bersempena Sambutan Memperingati Hari Al-Quds Sedunia tahun ini, adalah amat wajar untuk kita sama- sama mengajak masyarakat sekeliling memperingatinya, apatah lagi merencana langkah strategik, efektif dan praktikal lagi kreatif demi menyumbang ke arah pembebasan Palestin.

Sementara itu, antara aktiviti-aktiviti untuk menyemarakkan sambutan ini ialah ceramah umum, seminar, demonstrasi damai, penerbitan filem, buletin, cakera padat video (VCD), persembahan seni seperti teater, nasyid, dan festival seni dan pameran kesedaran di tempat awam yang strategik di masjid-masjid, sekolah-sekolah termasuk gedung beli-belah dan sebagainya.

The Cursed Bed ....

Strange Happenings In A Hospital. There was this case in this hospital's Intensive Care ward where patients always died in the same bed on Friday mornings around 9am, regardless of their age, gender, medical history or medical condition. This puzzled the doctors and some even thought that it had to do with the supernatural.

Why did death occur at that same bed around the same time every Friday? So the doctors decided to go down to that particular ward to investigate the cause of the deaths. Come Friday morning, everyone at the hospital ward nervously waited for the terrible phenomenon to occur again. The new (unknowing) patient laid there. Some doctors held wooden crosses, prayer books and other holy objects to ward off evil...and they waited.

8am, the patient was still alive...

8.30am...still breathing...

Just before the 'cursed' time, the door to the ward swung open...

Then Ah Soh, the part-time Friday cleaner, comes in and unplugs the life support system so that she can use the vacuum cleaner!
